The adventure starts with an early pickup (around 5.00) from your accommodation. We will leave Cusco on a private transport and start a 4-hour-drive to Soraypampa (3850 m.a.s.l.), which is the location the campsite for the first day of the popular Salkantay trek to Machu Picchu. Here we will enjoy a delicious breakfast in order to be ready for the trek. We will then start our hike up to the Humantay Lake (4200 m.a.s.l.), passing through stunning landscapes and with the possibility, if the sky is clear enough, to see the impressive ''Apus'' (''spirits of the mountains'') Salkantay and Humantay. It takes about a 1,5 hours to reach the lake, with a low to moderate difficulty, but it will be more than rewarding once we arrive at this natural beauty. It is also possible to rent a horse in case you don't feel like hiking all the way up. Once at the lagoon we will have enough time to take pictures, bring an offer to the Apus and the bravest among you can even decide to go swimming in the lake if it’s sunny! After some free time and rest, we will begin our descent to Soraypampa for about another 1.5 hours, which is much easier than the way up. In Soraypampa we will have a well-deserved lunch and after some rest we start making our way back to Cusco arriving at 6 p.m. approximately.
